Rene Lalique jewellery

Rene Lalique information.

One of Art Noveau and Art Deco's most famous designers. Born on the 6th April 1860s in France and died on the 5th May 1945. He went on to design many fabulous glass art pieces. From jewellery to chandelier. Perfume bottles, vases, clocks and even automobile hood ornaments.

His life.

In 1885, he became an apprentice to a jeweler. Moving to England he continued his studies. Returning to France in 1887, he started his own workshop. In 1887, the stamp "RL" on his items was copyrighted. He worked in gold, enamel, pearls and semi precious gemstones.
In 1907, he started to produce perfume bottles for Coty. Many later in the famous Art Deco designs.So in 1921, he founded the Alsace Glass works. His glass adored many famous ships, trains and interiors. 

Lalique Company

After his death, his granddaughter Marie Claude Lalique took over as CEO. She took the company into the perfume business. Producing Lalique perfume and fragrances. Now a worldwide globally.
In 2008, the company was taken over by Art & Fragrance group. They have now introduced furniture and Art into the companies output. Then in 2012, they stared to make fine jewellery again. Adding a museum, hotel and more fragrances to their lines over the years.

In 2018, the company celebrated 130 years of Lalique. Still in business today - 2019.
