Changes to our website brooches

Over the last few weeks, we have been planning and making a few changes to our new look website. Starting with the vintage brooches collection. We now have this great new look. Instead of having the sub categories below, we have them at the side bar only. This frees up the products to be shown straight away. We at Jewels & Finery UK, just think it makes it a little clearer. Now having freed up the sub categories it has enabled us to divided the true vintage jewellery from pre owned and new. So a new modern brooches collection has been formed that has previously owned brooch and new in only.  We have done this because of the growing number of products in this category of now over 360 different ones available.

Here are just some of the lovely vintage brooches we have available right now.

Cute rainbow fish vintage brooch
Brilliant enamel colours to this cute tropical fish with a twinkling diamante eye.

Glitter vintage butterfly brooch
This one just glitters with colour and the neat thing is that the glitter is sealed under clear enamel - so it doesn't get every where like some costume jewellery does.

Yellow Art Deco style vintage brooch
In the fabulous style of Art Deco this yellow vintage brooch is of a later Art Deco style jewellery. It is vintage and dates to around the 1970s/1980s.

Red rhinestone garland vintage brooch
This one is gorgeous with faceted red rhinestones and a glorious colour to the gold metal. Well made and of good quality.

The above vintage brooch is my personal favourite at the moment. We have planned many other changes and introduction of some new lines. So watch this space for more news.

A bit of BLING vintage style

As the party season hots up. Change the look of your evening gown by adding a sparkling piece of vintage jewellery.
A bling vintage brooch pinned to the lapel side of your dress as a corsage or used as an accent on the plunge of your bust-line. Just the one brooch, necklace or bracelet will add that something special to any clothing and transform you into a glamorous individual.

Pin a brooch to a silver material hair band for a total unique hair accessory. Or add a twinkling brooch to a plain clutch bag. Two brooches on a pair of heels, a belt or even on the plunge at the back of a dress. Just a sprinkle of imagination can transform a sober jacket into an couture outfit suitable for a glitz Hollywood party.

With a truly vintage piece of jewellery your look will be unique and no one else in the room will have the same copy.

Diamante is fabulous under party lights and rhinestones even better. Add bling in the form of a vintage necklace, dress clip or bracelet if brooches are not your thing.

Swag rhinestone necklace. Pre owned jewellery from recent years. Just covered in bling.

Liven up denim with this sparkling denim clip brooch. Push onto denim buttons available in several different colours and styles.
Beautiful vintage brooch with deep sparkling rhinestones. So versatile and easy to wear.

Brooches pinned to the clothing can be found in Jewels and Finery's white vintage brooches category.

Wedding jewellery with faux pearls and cream beads

Spring and looking for vintage wedding jewellery is definitely on its way this week. Purple iris bulbs are starting to emerge and the shrubs are bursting into bud. The poor garden has taken a huge cold spell this winter that has devastated many plants. At this moment, we are not sure whether we have lost the two large "palm" trees or yuccas. The lavenders have died along one border and the we have also lost a large shrub in the front garden.

 vintage brooch in green

But its been too wet to do anything, except clear up all the yucca leaves, into about 6 bin bags and filled the green bin to the top.
Lucky we brought in the banana plants in large pots and not leave them in the garden, other wise I think we would have lost them too.

So while I decide how what to plant in the empty spaces - we added many pieces of vintage jewellery and pre owned jewellery suitable for use as wedding jewellery for that something old piece.

In our traditional wedding jewellery selection, you will find faux pearl bead necklaces both vintage and pre owned. Clear rhinestone jewellery of brooches, earrings and necklacesCream and ivory coloured jewellery of wedding necklaces and wedding brooches. All to compliment wedding accessories for both the bride and bridesmaids.

Of course we have added lots of other brooches, earrings, bracelets and necklaces as well.

Clothes show live 2010 video link on You Tube

Here is one of the videos that I took at the Clothes Show Live 2010 at the NEC, Birmingham.

It's a small section about movies with dancers and models. Love the lights and the backdrop.

We have added lots of vintage Christmas jewellery this week to Jewels and Finery.

Impressive blue rhinestone brooch

Here are some photographs of the Christmas and party jewellery we have for sale at the moment.

Large angel brooch

Christmas brooch by Jewelcraft
Christmas bells brooch circa 1960s
Starflower diamante brooch modern.

Blue aurora borealis necklace 1970s

1990s large star-shaped clip earrings
Ble cabochon earrings for pierced ears 1980s.

Well, it is still cold, icy and some areas still have snow in the UK. The Christmas tree is up and plans have been made for Christmas itself. Who's going to cook the turkey this year? I will get round to making the Christmas cakes - late but the way that I have always done them; and they are always lovely and moist (With no orange peel and lots of nuts). But more next time and the recipe.

Ciro Pearls Jewellery Vintage Adverts from 1938

One Saturday a few months ago, my daughter offered to take me to an antique fair. She found it odd that I would want to go through a load of old magazines and leaflets. What could be so interesting in them?

Well these adverts for one. Found in a November 1938 edition of Weldon's Ladies' Journal. The magazine had 3 Ciro Pearls advertisements on different pages.
They should enlarge when clicked on to be able to read.

Adverts are ideal for dating vintage jewellery.  So to find 3 different ones is very good.

Here are some latest additions to our websites.

Austrian crystal vintage diamante brooch in clear and amber
Sparkling rhinestone brooch with Austrian crystal in amber and bright clear colours.

Clear diamante vintage screw back earrings dangles
